It’s hard to know what to believe these days. What’s artificial, and what’s real? That’s why I designed a logo to mark the difference.
Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool. It’s already transforming healthcare, science, accessibility and countless other sectors. But in the world of creativity the story is more complicated.
Designers, illustrators, photographers, writers and artists, are experiencing a moment of huge change. Images, layouts, articles, and concepts can now be generated in seconds with a prompt. Work that once required years of learning, experimentation, failure and refinement can be imitated instantly.
AI will continue to evolve. But today, it still lacks what makes creative work truly meaningful – lived experience, human judgement, cultural context, intention, taste, and the messy, unpredictable process that leads to original ideas.
Many creative professionals are proud of the craft behind their work – and want a way to signal that it wasn’t made using AI.
There’s not one generally accepted AI-FREE logo. As a professional designer who practised before technology was part of our toolkit, and everything was done by hand, I felt compelled to throw my hat into the ring, in response to an article I read on BBC News.
I posted the design on social media, and the response and feedback were such that I decided to build this site, where anyone can download versions of the “NO AI” and “STOP SLOP” logos.
Apply it to anything that’s been made or created without the use of Artificial Intelligence and reassure the world it’s real, handmade, crafted and genuine.
Add the NOAI WATERMARK to distinguish your work from AI.
